Taylor Swift Discloses Mom’s Cancer Diagnosis on Tumblr

Taylor Swift has revealed that her mother, Andrea Finlay, has been diagnosed with cancer.

The "Blank Space" singer wrote to all of her fans on her personal Tumblr page:

"For Christmas this year, I asked my mom that one of her gifts to me be her going to the doctor to get screened for any health issues, just to ease some worries of mine," Swift wrote. "The results came in, and I'm saddened to tell you that my mom has been diagnosed with cancer. I'd like to keep the details of her condition and treatment plans private, but she wanted you to know."

In her post, Swift, 25, also encouraged her fans to remind their parents and loved ones to get routine medical check ups.

She wrote, in regards to her mother's request, "She wanted you to know because your parents may be too busy juggling everything they've got going on to go to the doctor, and maybe you reminding them to go get checked for cancer could possibly lead to an early diagnosis and an easier battle... Or peace of mind in knowing that they're healthy and there's nothing to worry about. She wanted you to know why she may not be at as many shows this tour. She's got an important battle to fight.

I hope and pray that you never get news like this."

Although Swift did not reveal much information on her mom's cancer diagnosis and prognosis, many of her fans and fellow celebrity friends have expressed their support.

Swift has always been very out-spoken about her close relationship with her mother. Back in 2008, the singer told the Great American Country network, "My mom and I have always been really close. She's always been the friend that was always there. There were times when, in middle school and junior high, I didn't have a lot of friends. But my mom was always my friend. Always."

Andrea and her husband, Scott Swift have Taylor and younger brother, Austin, 23.
