Frank Ocean New Album Release Date: "Boys Don't Cry" to Drop July 2015
Frank Ocean is releasing a new album very soon.
The 27-year-old artist announced that his follow-up album to "Channel Orange," which was released in 2012, is scheduled to come out during the summer. His publicist, Molly Kawachi of ID-PR, confirmed that the album and a publication would be released in July.
Ocean also posted a picture on his website. The picture is of Ocean sitting next two different stacks of magazines with the caption, "I got two versions. I got twoooo versions." #ISSUE1 #ALBUM3 #JULY2015 #BOYSDONTCRY.
Billboard is reporting that the magazine would be titled Boys Don't Cry. There is no album title yet.
Ocean has reportedly been working his follow-up album since January 2013. At that time, Ocean and Chris Brown had fought right outside of a Los Angeles recording studio.
According to the Rolling Stone, Ocean has been working with mega-producers who include Hit-Boy, Rodney Jerkins, Pharrell Williams and Danger Mouse. Collaborator Nabil Elderkin had teased that Ocean's second album "blows the sophomore-album myth out of the water."
Since his "Channel Orange," which won a Grammy for Best Urban Contemporary Album, Ocean released a single, "Memrise" in November 2014. In January of this year, Ocean released his rendition of Isley Brothers' "At Your Best (You Are Love)" as a tribute to the late Aaliyah.
Ocean also contributed to Beyoncé's self-titled album, "Beyoncé," Jay-Z's "Magana Carta Holy Grail," and John Mayer's "Paradise Valley."
