Fast and Furious 7 Update: Eva Mendes Courted for Bigger Role in "Coming" Eighth Sequel
Fans of the "Fast and Furious" franchise are already on to the next film even though "Furious 7" was released just this past weekend.
According to the latest rumors, "Fast and Furious 8," or whatever the movie will be titled, wants Eva Mendes to reprise her role. The rumors added that if Mendes agrees to return to the franchise, her role would be extended. Her character will also be a crucial part to the plot.
"FAST & FURIOUS 8 #RUMOR With #fast7 now in the record books, the upcoming NY based #Fast8 story will depend on whether they can bring back Eva Mendes' character: US Customs Agent Monica Fuentes," Umberto Gonzalez (El Mayimbe) with Latino-Review wrote in an Instagram post.
Mendes, 41, played Agent Fuentes in "2 Fast 2 Furious." She also made a cameo at the end of "Fast Five."
The news came after actress Helen Mirren stated that she wants to be in the next "Fast and Furious movie."
Mirren said, reported by the Mirror, "My great ambition is to be in a Fast and Furious movie. I so want to be a mad driver in a Fast and Furious movie ... my claim to fame is I always do my own driving. I was on Top Gear, and I did [my lap] in a very good time...I keep putting it out there, and they never ask me. I'll be in Fast and Furious 8!"
Aside from this rumor, "Fast and Furious" star Vin Diesel let it slip that the eighth installment will take place in New York. Diesel also revealed, while he was promoting "Furious 7" on Jimmy Kimmel Live that intelligence agent Mr. Nobody, who debuted in "Furious 7," will be back. Kurt Russell plays Mr. Nobody.
