Kraft Recalls 6.5 Million Boxes of Mac and Cheese Containing Small Metal Pieces
Kraft Foods Group Inc, is currently busy recalling more than 6.5 million boxes of macaroni and cheese after receiving several complaints from customers over finding small pieces of metals inside.
While no injuries was reported, the company was contacted by at least 8 customers and were notified of the situation.
The Illinois based company then made the move to recall the product that was being shipped nationwide across the US and also to some countries in the Caribbean and South America.
In a statement made to the press, a Kraft spokesperson said, "Consumers who purchased this product should not eat it. They should return it to the store where purchased for an exchange or full refund."
The company went on to add, "We deeply regret this situation and apologize to any consumers we have disappointed."
The product recalls are currently limited to the 7.5 ounce boxes of the original flavoured Macaroni and Cheese which have an expiration date between September 18 and August 12. Below the date, the production line code (C2) will be displayed.
The voluntary decision to recall over 242,000 cases comes at a time when Kraft is already grappling with slow growth in sales. The management in recent months also went through some major changes.
Customers can also get a refund by calling Kraft at 1-800-816-9432.
