Can you talk like a pirate? Then on head over to your nearest Krispy Kreme, because the famous doughnut company is giving away free doughnuts.
If you're going to throw in a few "ahoys!" and "mateys" you'll earn yourself one Original Glazed donut. In honor of "International Talk Like a Pirate Day," Krispy Kreme is giving away free doughnuts. However, if you arrive wearing a full-fledged pirate suit, you will receive a WHOLE BOX of free original, glazed donuts.
The tradition began when John Baur and Mark Summers came up with the holiday idea during a friendly racquetball game back in 1995. But it wasn't until 2002, when syndicated columnist and author, Dave Barry, mentioned Talk Like a Pirate Day in his popular newspaper column, when the annual event actually took off. Today, the swashbuckling occasion is celebrated in more than 40 countries.
The free doughnut offer is only good Fri., Sept. 19.
