Apple has removed fitness bands and wearables like Nike FuelBand and Jawbone UP from its retail store ahead of Apple Watch debut, according to reports.

Earlier, Apple used to sell a wide array of fitness trackers such as Fitbit, Nike, Jawbone, Wahoo and more, but over the last few months these products have lost shelf space at the Apple Store.

Re/code, reporting the discontinuation, wrote: "The move comes as the tech behemoth is readying for the April 24 shipping date of the Apple Watch, which Apple has touted as a personal fitness trainer, capable of tracking steps and other metrics, such as heart rate."

Apart from taking down the Nike and Jawbone products online, the company has also discontinued it at most of the brick-and-mortar Apple Store locations in the U.S..

Wearables such as Wahoo's TICKR around-the-body heart rate monitor and a similar offering from Polar is still for sale on the Store.

According to Re/code, MIO CEO Liz Dickinson said Apple notified her of an impending Apple Store removal months ago. It is unclear if the smart fitness watch will ultimately share the same fate as similar devices from Jawbone, Nike and Fitbit.

Apple Watch starts at $349 and will start shipping on April 24.
