Ronda Rousey Believes She can ‘beat 100 percent’ of 135-Pound Male Fighters
Ronda Rousey needs a bigger challenge.
The UFC women's bantamweight champion believes that she can take on and beat all of the male fighters in the 135-pound lightweight class.
"I never say that I'm incapable of beating anybody because I don't believe on putting limits on myself," Rousey said after UFC color commentator Joe Rogan sparked controversy by stating that she could beat a lot men her size. "If we are just talking about what in the realm of possibilities is possible of who I could beat -- well I could beat 100-percent of them [men]. You can't tell me there's a zero-percent chance that I can't beat anyone on the planet so I'm never going to say that."
Rogan had said, "There's a lot of guys her size she could beat. I mean a lot. If you took the roster of the UFC's bantamweights, 135-pounds, and you paired them up against Ronda Rousey, she might be able to beat 50-percent of them. That's not a joke."
UFC president Dana White had also joked earlier that since fighting women is too easy for Rousey, maybe he should put her up against men.
Rousey had defeated Cat Zingano within 14 seconds at this past Saturday's UFC 184, setting a new record for the fastest finish in the history of UFC title fights. When asked about what she thought about her opponents and the level of competition in her weight class, she simply stated that she grew up on fighting unlike many of the other female fighters.
"It's not that they're lacking anything so much, they decided later in life that they wanted to be a fighter," Rousey said on ESPN SportsCenter on Thursday. "A lot of these girls already developed a personality and had a life and one day decided 'Hey I'm really good at this stuff, I should give it a try.' Whereas this is literally what I was raised to do. I have so much more mat time and experience than these girls, they just can't catch up."
Rousey will start filming a movie titled "Mile 22" in May.
