Tinder Launches Tinder Plus, Premium Service That Costs Double For People Over 30
Tinder - the popular dating app - has lunched Tinder Plus, a premium service that would cost more for users over 30 years old.
Tinder Plus includes two most-requested features - Passport and Rewind.
Passport lets users change location to connect with people anywhere around the world. Tinder is used in 140 countries, and says its number of users outside the U.S. more than doubled in the last 90 days. Following the U.S., Tinder's biggest markets are Brazil, the U.K., France, Canada and Australia, WSJ reports.
The new Rewind feature lets users go back in time and swipe right instead of left.
For users under 30, Tinder Plus is going to cost $9.99 per month whereas for users over 30, Tinder Plus would be $19.99 per month.
"Lots of products offer differentiated price tiers by age, like Spotify does for students, for example," Tinder's vice president of corporate communications and branding, Rosette Pambakian, told Mashable. "Tinder is no different; during our testing we've learned, not surprisingly, that younger users are just as excited about TinderPlus, but are more budget constrained, and need a lower price to pull the trigger."
"Tinder should be able to make tens of millions from ads, but they'll earn more from the subscriptions to allow users to nix the ads, and be able to determine their location and being able to undo swipes," Mark Brooks, CEO of Courtland Brooks, an advisory firm for dating companies, said.
