A pair of Google veterans have assembled a team of experts who have worked for a number of other notable Silicon Valley companies and startups to form a company called Otto with the aim of making truck driving on highways safer through automation. Unlike driverless car projects elsewhere, the company is more concerned with developing the technology that can be easily fitted into trucks to help drivers on the road.
Truck drivers with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) who were not adequately treated for the condition were five times more likely to be involved in preventable crashes than drivers without the sleep disorder.
