A U.S. airstrike ripped through a hospital operated by an international humanitarian organization in the Afghan city of Kunduz as the government fought to regain control from the Taliban, which recently overran the provincial capital.
The Taliban has regained control of a major city as the Afghanistan government continues to be ineffective against the group without strong U.S. support.
In a step forward, the Afghan government is meeting the Taliban in the next few days for peace talks.
