The World Health Organization has been undertaking steps to end the spread of HIV.
Following promising results in earlier trials in Thailand in 2009, the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) recently announced a large-scale trial to take place in South Africa in November this year. An ongoing preliminary safety trial in South Africa also yielded positive results giving scientists hope that the November trial will produce an HIV-AIDS vaccine once and for all.

The potential drug causes the body to product its own defense against the virus.
