NASA has confirmed that the El Nino weather phenomenon in the Pacific will mean heavy rain on the U.S. west coast, and even more severe drought in Southeast Asia.
According to a recent published study, in 2015, the Sierra Nevada snowpack has hit the lowest level than it has ever reached in the last 500 years, further spurring the California drought.
Researchers found that the levels were at the lowest in 500 years.
The study claims emissions associated with human activity may have contributed as much as 25 percent to the natural drought.
