Apple Watch will replace your car keys, said Apple CEO Tim Cook in an interview to The Telegraph. He also cleared the air about the battery backup of the device, which will last whole day.

The watch is designed to replace car keys and the clumsy, large fobs that are now used in many vehicles, Cook told The Telegraph.

Its battery will last the whole day, and will not take as long to charge as an iPhone, the report quoted Cook as saying.

Cook added that the Apple Watch would also work as a credit card through Apple Pay but he did not comment on the process of user verification.

The rollout of the watch might pose a challenge for Apple's stores, which may involve "tweaking the experience in the store," the Telegraph said, citing Cook's conversation with the staff at Apple's Covent Garden store in London.

Apple's CarPlay lets drivers access contacts on their iPhones and make calls or listen to voicemails without taking their hands off the steering wheel.

Apple is also looking to invest in developing a self-driving electric car and reportedly is in talks with carmakers and automotive suppliers.

Apple has scheduled an event for March 9, where it's expected to showcase the Apple Watch.
