Kelly Osbourne Leaves ‘Fashion Police’ after Zendaya Hair Controversy
Kelly Osbourne has officially quit "Fashion Police."
"Kelly Osbourne is departing E!s 'Fashion Police' to pursue other opportunities, and we would like to thank her for her many contributions to the series over the past five years, during which time the show became a hit with viewers," an E! representative said Friday. "'Fashion Police' will return, as scheduled, on Friday, March 30th at 9:00 p.m. and no decisions have been made on her replacement.
The news was confirmed a few days after Osbourne threatened to quit due to co-host Guliana Rancic's insensitive comments about Zendaya's dreads. During the day after the Oscars, Rancic made fun of 18-year-old actress Zendaya's whole Oscar look.
She had said on Monday night's episode, "I feel like she smells like patchouli oil...or weed."
Zendaya responded to that comment, stating that it was very racist. During the height of the controversy, Osbourne had tweeted that she did not "condone racism" and questioned her commitment to the show, which is known for making fun of celebrities' fashion choices.
Osbourne seemed to be okay with the scandal after Zendaya accepted Rancic's heartfelt apology. She tweeted: "It takes a strong women to apologize & makes a forgiving women even stronger! #ThisTooShallPass."
It is unclear whether or not Osbourne chose to leave the show due to this scandal. She has not commented about her departure. Osbourne joined "Fashion Police" back in 2010.
