Chris Brown Canada Update: Singer Forced to Cancel Concerts After Country Bars Him From Entry
Canadians will have to head to the U.S. if they want to attend a Chris Brown concert.
The 25-year-old R&B singer revealed on Twitter that he was forced to cancel his concerts at the Bell Centre in Montreal and the Air Canada Centre in Toronto after being denied entry into the country. He was supposed to perform on Tuesday and Wednesday with rapper Tyga and singer Trey Songz.
His posts, which have been deleted, read: "Unfortunately I will not be able to perform in front of sold out crowds in Montreal & Toronto...The good people of the Canadian government wouldn't allow me entry. I'll be back this summer and will hopefully see all my Canadian fans!"
Brown's spokeswoman, Nicole Perna, confirmed the news. Tour promoter, Live Nation, released a statement that the shows were canceled "due to immigration issues" and refunds will be issued at the point of purchase.
This is not the first time that Brown had to cancel concerts after being denied entry into a country. In 2010, Brown was not allowed to enter the United Kingdom. The British government's Home Office had decided against issuing Brown a visa due to his criminal record.
In 2009, Brown was on probation after he attacked his then-girlfriend, singer Rihanna. Brown was also imprisoned for almost three months last year for violating his probation.
Brown's Between the Sheets tour will resume this Friday in Rosemont, Illinois.
