“The Judge” to Open Toronto Film Festival: Report
The 39 th annual Toronto International Film Festival will open with "The Judge" on September 4.
The film" The Judge "starring Robert Duvall and Robert Downey Jr, is one of the 60 films to be unveiled during the festival.
The film was not slated to open the show but was pushed up the honor list on Firday
Director David Dobkins said: "I brought my first film, Clay Pigeons, to Toronto, so 15 years later to actually be on opening night with The Judge is incredibly special and thrilling. The festival audiences are terrific, and I know I speak for everyone involved in the film when I say we are so pleased to be unveiling it there.", Press Association reports.
Downey Jr plays the role of a successful lawyer Hank Palmer who returns to his home town for his mother's funeral and finds himself involved in saving his estranged father , Robert Duvall.
Vincent D'Onofrio, Jeremy Strong, Dax Shepard and Billy Bob Thornton also feature in The Judge.
"The stars aligned... David Dobkin has delivered a moving, textured story about family, duty and the way we remember our past. We couldn't have asked for a better start to this year's event." Piers Handling, the festival's director and CEO told the Press Association.
The festival includes 59 entertaining and special presentation for it audience and include feature performances from Benedict Cumberbatch, Denzel Washington, Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston .
Films directed by Chris Rock, Noah Baumbach and Mike Leigh will also be screened during the 10-day festival from 4 to 14 September, 2014.
