Kristen Stewart Is First Ever American To Receive Most Prestigious Film Awards In France
Twilight star Kristen Stewart made history as she received the Best Supporting Actress award at The Cesar Awards, the French equivalent of the Oscars, for the film "Clouds of Sils Maria."
While receiving the award, the actress shouted in the crowd "I love you Juliette" in French, a message addressed to her co-star Juliette Binoche, BBC reported.
With her in the film is Chloe Grace Moretz. It is directed by Olivier Assayas and had its premiere at Cannes Film Festival last year.
Aside from the Best Actress Nomination, Clouds of Sils Maria also received the six Cesar nominations. One of these nominations includes the Best Actress Award, Best Film and Best Director Award.
Reports from Entertainment Weekly said that the drama film portrays the life of an actress, played by Binoche, whose career underwent a revival with the staging of a play that marked her career 20 years before. Stewart played the role of Binoche's assistant in the movie.
However, the big winner of this year's Cesars is the Film Timbukto, according to BBC.
It bagged seven awards with the Best Film And Best Director given to them.
In an interview with Variety, the American actress expressed her fascination towards French filmmakers. "The reasons why people make films here in France are very different from the reasons why people make movies in Hollywood and I prefer it here a little bit."
The tabloid further said that the actress will be involved in another French film in the future. However, no details were available at the moment.
Meanwhile, aside from Kristen Stewart, another American actor, Sean Penn also made a name in the night with his Lifetime Achievement Award.
