Jerry Jones: Dallas Cowboys owner sued for alleged sexual assault; 'This is a money grab'
A former exotic dancer has filed a lawsuit against Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones, according to ESPN Dallas. She is seeking damages for alleged sexual assault that occurred in 2009.
Per the complaint, Former exotic dancer Jana Weckerly claims Jones forced her to touch his penis, watch other women give him oral sex and grabbed her breasts. Weckerly is seeking $1 million in damages.
"These allegations are completely false," Jones' attorney Levi McCathern II wrote in a statement, according to the Dallas Morning News. "The legal complaint is unsupported by facts or evidence of any kind. This is nothing more than an attempt to embarrass and extort Jerry Jones. This is a money grab by a lawyer who is a solo practitioner just trying to make a name for himself. The alleged incidents would have been more than 5 years old.
"We intend to vigorously contest this complaint and expect it will be shown for what it is - a shakedown. Due to the seriousness of these baseless allegations, we have also involved law enforcement."
Weckerly's Dallas attorney, Thomas Bowers, said his client has been taking medicine and going to counseling to deal with the alleged events. Weckerly declined to leave comment.
In August, photos were released of Jones in suggestive positions with two women. According to ESPN Dallas, Weckerly took the photos which were reported by the TerezOwens website.
Jones said he had known about the pictures. He chose not to comment when asked questions by reporters.
The news of this lawsuit comes at a time when the NFL is dealing with the fallout of the domestic violence committed by former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice. Rice was let go by the Ravens and suspended indefinitely by the league after a video of the violence was released by TMZ.
