Executive Producer Harris Wittels of the hit TV show 'Parks and Recreation' was found dead on Thursday in his Los Angeles home. According to reports from TMZ, the 30-year-old writer-comedian is suspected to have died from a possible 'drug overdose'. LAPD officials said that his body was discovered by his assistant while the police responded to a 911 call late Thursday afternoon.
Wittels is man of many talents. Apart from producing and writing for Parks and Recreation, he played a minor role as an animal control worker on the show. Harris has also been a writer for other hit TV shows like The Suits and The Sarah Silverman Program.
In 2012, he wrote the book Humblebrag: The Art of False Modesty in 2012, which is based on his popular Twitter account of the same name. He was also the drummer of the band Don't Stop or We'll Die.
Harris Wittels has been open about his struggles with drug addiction and was in rehab twice before. During one of his recent stand-up gigs at the Los Angeles comedy theatre last week, Wittel had mentioned that he has been clean and sober for a while.
Several stars paid their tributes to the comedian after hearing the news of his death. Sarah Silverman was in particular devastated by the news and wrote on twitter, "He was my baby. I just keep thinking of superman flying backwards around the earth. I wish I could do that. I'm so mad at you Harris"
"You should know that Harris was brilliant beyond compare. That his imagination was without limit. That he loved comedy more than anything. That his heart was big and he FELT hard. That he was someone who would reach out to tell you he was thinking of you for no particular reason."
