George Clooney And Amal Alamuddin: Newlyweds Installing Anarchy-Proof Panic Room In 17th Century English Home
George Clooney and his new hotshot lawyer wife Amal have begun to install a panic room in their UK residence.
US Weekly reports that the panic room will be installed in the Clooneys' Berkshire, England mansion. The mansion was built in the 17th century. Although stalkers and paparazzi are typical threats for celebrities like the Clooneys, they had another threat in mind in choosing to install a panic room.
Amal works as a human rights lawyer who takes the cases of people who resist governments around the world. Among her clients is Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks. Assange has been trapped in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London for years now.
It is because of this dangerous work that the Clooneys installed a panic room. The room is said to be bomb, fire, and attack proof. US Weekly also reports that because of the sensitive nature of Amal's work, she needed a space where all of her files and other crucial information could be stored safely.
After marrying in Sept., 2014, the Clooneys spent two weeks in isolation at the Berkshire house. They were married in a ceremony in Venice, Italy.
