Dr Seuss' New Book To Be Published In July
Dr. Seuss, the beloved children's author, has written a manuscript with sketches , which were recently discovered by his fans, stirring a lot of excitement. The new book, called "What Pet Should I get?" by the author will get published in July. Two other books have also been planned, according to the publisher, Random House, which announced the results on Wednesday, according to gma.yahoo.com.
Dr Seuss' books will be published on July 28 this year---24 years after his death. It will be his 46th book. Earlier, all his publications sold more than 650 million copies worldwide, and were loved by different generations.
Even now, three of his books are ranked among the top 50 on the Best-Selling Books list. 'Green Eggs and Ham' is No. 16; 'One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish' is No. 19; and 'The Cat in the Hat' is No. 35, according to usatoday.com.
Just last year, Random House announced that it would publish a book of four rediscovered illustrated stories by Dr. Seuss.
As his books have shown creative and imaginative sketches of fantasy characters and have used attractive rhymes, they have been very popular. Random House shows the new title focusing on a child's excitement over getting a pet, with sibling characters that have been introduced in Seuss' 'One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish'.
Some of the most popular books written and illustrated by Theodor Seuss Geisel, who went by the name of just Dr. Seuss, included 'The Cat in the Hat', 'Green Eggs and Ham', 'Horton Hears a Who!' and 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas!'
Many of his books have been made into films, including 'Horton Hears a Who!', 'The Lorax' and 'The Cat in the Hat'. Before his death, his final book included: 'Oh, the Places You'll Go!', which was published in 1990. He died in September 24, 1991, at the age of 87.
After he died, his wife, Audrey, came across a box that was full of pages of text and sketches, when she was remodeling her home, according to Random House. The box was put aside and found again in 2013 by Geisel and Claudia Prescott, his longtime secretary and friend, according to the publisher.
For the book, 'What Pet Should I get?' the copy as well as the sketches were found. Audrey found them to be 'undeniably special' but clear, and 'not surprising'.
"Ted always worked on multiple projects and started new things all the time -- he was constantly drawing and coming up with ideas for new stories," she said, according to a statement by Random House.
Susan Brandt, President of licensing and marketing for Dr. Seuss Enterprises, L.P., said: "We had no idea what we were in store for when Claudia notified us of the materials discovered in Ted's home," she said. "Pages and pages of manuscripts and sketches were laid out on the big glass dining room table. It was truly a magical moment, and we immediately knew this was more than just a box of sketches."
The titles and publication dates for the other new books by Dr. Seuss will be announced later, Random House said.
