Jodi Arias Trial Latest Update: Prosecution Rests its Case, 7-Year Dilemma Nears End
The prosecution has rested its case in Jodi Arias retrial, signalling an end is near in the seven-year old trial that has garnered massive attention.
The retrial was necessitated as the jury which found her guilty of first degree murder could not reach unanimous verdict on her sentencing in May 2014, nearly a year after Arias found guilty of murdering her boyfriend Travis Alexander in 2008 at his home in Mesa, Arizona, reports The Christian Times.
According to Christian Post, Robert Brown, a computer expert testified that evidence of pornography on Alexander's computer got there because of viruses contrary to earlier testimonies for the defence which noted that the pornography was deliberately watched on the computer.
The pornography angle is being explored as allegations were made by the defence that Alexander could have been a paedophile and the porn in his computer is suggestive. The defence claims that Alexander's personality in someway warranted the reaction from Arias as self-defence which led to murder, as Court Chatter explains.
Christian Post further reported that Judge Sherry Stephens informed jury last week of a possible rebuttal witness on February 26.
The prosecution is pushing for death penalty while Arias herself has pleaded for life sentence.
