Apple Tightens Security of iMessage and FaceTime By Enabling Two-Factor Authentication
Apple is infamously known for its fragile security in services. Last year, when celebrity photos from iCloud were leaked online, the company was heavily scrutinized. The issue was addressed by implementing two-factor authentication.
So that was for iCloud and now the good news is that you can enable two-factor authentication for iMessage and FaceTime as well. The implementation of two-factor authentication means that should a hacker manage to get your Apple ID and password and tries to activate iMessage or FaceTime on their device using your details, they can't as they would still need a PIN code that will only be sent to your handset.
It will prevent hackers from posing to be you and send messages to friends or family members in an attempt to try and get sensitive information on you. We can expect that the security feature might get implemented in all of Apple's service.
Setting-up Two-Factor Authentication
To set up two-factor authentication is pretty easy. Navigate to My Apple ID and select "Manage your Apple ID." After signing in, navigate to "Password and Security" and under "Two-Step Authentication", select Get Started and follow the instructions on how to proceed with the feature.
