At least two people have been killed and 65 injured in a pile-up involving about 100 vehicles in foggy weather on a bridge near South Korea's international airport, according to reports.

Byeon Tae-u of the Incheon Fire and Safety Management Department said that at least 65 people were injured, seven of them seriously, and the number of the injured could increase.

The crash occurred in the morning in a Seoul-bound lane and was likely aggravated by thick fog and icy road conditions, Byeon said, according to the Associated Press.

The pile-up appeared to have been started when a limousine ran into the back of a car, an Incheon police station spokesman said.

"More than 100 vehicles were involved," he said, adding that the foggy conditions meant drivers could only see 15 metres (50 feet) in front of them.

Five foreigners were among the 43 injured, but their nationalities were not immediately released.

A YouTube video apparently taken at the scene showed the mangled wreckage of cars and rescuers seemingly pulling victims out of a bus.

Lee Gyeong-hoon, 39, whose car was hit from behind,, said he was driving slowly because the fog prevented him from seeing much more than 10 yards ahead.

"I saw the brake lights of the car in front of me turn on and I stopped abruptly," he said. He was able to open the door and escape to the side, according to the Independent.
