Apple's next version of mobile operating system iOS 9 will focus on stabilizing and optimizing the OS instead adding new features, according to a new report. Although, stability should be an expected component of any OS but it has taken a toll on the iOS's overall performance following continuous feature enhancements, the report cited.

"For 2015, iOS 9, which is codenamed Monarch, is going to include a collection of under-the-hood improvements. Sources tell us that iOS 9 engineers are putting a "huge" focus on fixing bugs, maintaining stability, and boosting performance for the new operating system, rather than solely focusing on delivering major new feature additions. Apple will also continue to make efforts to keep the size of the OS and updates manageable, especially for the many millions of iOS device owners with 16GB devices," 9to5Mac reported.

Apple might accomplish the stability up to an extent by limiting iOS 9 support to relatively recent devices and let the older devices be left out. This could simplify the iOS development for both Apple and third-part app developers.

However, according to the report, stability might not be the only feature of iOS 9. The company has been working on number of new features including Transit ad Indoor mapping modes as well.

Reportedly, the new operating system iOS 9 will be showcased on the WWDC 2015.
