Buffalo Bills Seeking to Close Deal with Richie Incognito
When Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan stated that the team will "be the bullies," many did not expect the statement to be literal.
According to several sources, the Bills are in the process of signing lineman, Richie Incognito, who is most famously known for his involvement in a bullying scandal.
"We're going to build a bully," Ryan said at his Jan. 14 news conference. "And we're going to see if you're going to play us for 60 minutes because we're going to give everything we have every snap out there. That represents not just ourselves. It represents our community, and we're proud to represent Buffalo. ... We're going to earn it, earn that respect that our fans give."
Incognito, 31, was banned by the Miami Dolphins during the 2013 season for bullying fellow teammate, Jonathan Martin. An investigation was started after Martin left the team, claiming that he was being bullied. The investigation revealed that Martin was subjected to racist, homophobic and misogynistic slurs made by Incognito and two other offensive linemen, John Jerry and Mike Pouncey.
Incognito was suspended for eight games and became a free agent when the Dolphins let his contract expire. Incognito was cleared to resume all football-related activities last season. He reportedly visited the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Denver Broncos. However, neither team signed the veteran.
Now, Incognito is one step closer to making a return to the NFL. ESPN.com reported that Incognito will visit the Bills on Saturday to complete his physical.
