Family Stages Son's Kidnapping to Teach a Lesson About Strangers
A family orchestrated the kidnapping of their six-year-old son in order to teach him a lesson about being too nice.
The CBC reports that the child was abducted after he got off the bus and walked home from school on Feb. 2. The boy was kidnapped by a coworker of his aunt's named Nathan Wynn Firoved. Once the boy was in Firoved's truck, Firoved said that he would nail him to a wall and the boy would never have the opportunity to see his mother again.
The boy started to cry after this, and Firoved showed him a gun in order to make him be quiet. The CBC says the boy did not stop crying despite the threat. After that, Firoved drove aimlessly around the Missouri countryside before eventually returning the boy to his home. At some point, Firoved blindfolded the child and bound his hands and feet before taking him home.
Once at home, the boy was put in the basement of his house and left alone. Eventually, the boy's aunt took off his pants and said that he could be sold into sexually slavery. Hours after that incident, the boy was allowed to leave the basement and return to the house. Once upstairs, the boy's family then lectured him about the dangers of being too trusting of people he does not know.
Those involved in the plot were arrested after the boy recounted his harrowing ordeal in school. Once teachers became aware of the affair, they called the Division of Family Services and the boy was removed from the home. He is currently residing with another family member.
In all, Firoved, and the boy's mother, grandmother, and aunt were arrested and charged with kidnapping and other charges.
