Cannon has recently announced two new DSLRs, each packing 50 megapixels resolutions - the highest resolution full frame DSLRs yet. The Canon 5Ds and 5Ds R appear to be housed in the same body as 2012's 5D Mark III.

Overall, Canon 5Ds and 5Ds R are almost the same camera, featuring 50 megapixel full-frame sensors. However, the difference is 5DS R allows you to cancel the low-pass filter, boosting more crisp detail.

The announced price of Canon 5Ds is $3700 while the 5Ds R will be available at $3900.

Both of the announced cameras feature a 61 point AF system and dual DIGIC 6 processors. The processor reminds us of the recent 7D Mark II camera that had impressed everyone with its fast autofocus.

Canon said the camera equips the mechanisms to reduce shake from the movements of the mirror, along with a reinforced tripod mount for added stability.

The new Canon 5Ds and 5Ds R also have a built-in intervalometer for creating time-lapse videos. However, these new full frame DSLRs will don't shoot 4K-resolution video but can top out at 1080p full HD at 30 fps and 720p at 60 fps.

The viewfinder included is a 3.2-inch 1.04-million-dot LCD screen (read non-touchscreen). The cameras also equip dual memory-card slots for CompactFlash and SD.
