Former First Lady's Kiss-and-Tell Book Reveals Hollande "Doesn't Like The Poor"
France's President François Hollande has been humiliated by ex-girlfriend Valérie Trierweiler in her tell-all book unveiled in Paris Match Wednesday, where she writes that the socialist President is, in fact, an elitist who "doesn't like the poor".
Presenting a devastating account of incidents from her 9-year relationship with him, Trierweiler portrayed Hollande as a cold, cynical cheat, The National Post reports.
Rubbishing the image that he has been maintaining all these years, the vengeful former first lady also mentioned one such instance when the President belittled her parents only because they belonged to the working-class.
"He portrays himself as a man who does not like the rich. In reality, the president does not like the poor," Trierweiler wrote in her tell-all 330-page book "Merci Pour Ce Moment" ("Thank You for This Moment"), New York Daily News reports.
Another episode that has been highlighted in the book was one huge fight between the two after Hollande's affair with actress Julie Gayet hit the headlines. Trierweiler, who at that time was staying with the president at the Elysée Palace, revealed that post the revelation of the affair she wanted to commit suicide. Their relationship concluded soon after the disclosure.
Sources close to the President said that he had no clue about the release of the book and was "appalled" at the content leaked Wednesday.
"It was all very hush-hush, I only heard the book existed yesterday in a phone call from the publisher," said one bookshop owner.
The 49-year-old journalist further said that he sent her 29 texts in one day trying to woo her back, even though he was still seeing Gayet, the Daily Mail reports.
Trierweiler has already received an advance of around $115,177 for the first kiss-and-tell account of a serving President.
