Microsoft slashing prices of Surface Pro 3 tablets earlier this year has rumor mills working full-time. The latest word on the street is Surface Pro 4 could be released by mid-2015.

According to CNET, Microsoft slashed prices of four variants of Surface Pro 3 temporarily by $ 100. Latino Post which speculated about the date of launch, reports that Surface Pro 4 will feature Broadwell Chips and not the Haswell Chips that the tablets now sport. One of the most important features is LTE support for the new tablets.

Christian Times which also has beep picking on the rumors, reported that two variants, 13-inch and 14-inchwould be made available. These tablets would feature Microsoft's Windows 10. There is that Surface Pro 4 could be a laptop-tablet hybrid. A smaller 8-inch could also be released along with large screen variants. The top end device in the line could feature a whopping 16 GB RAM. Microsoft is said to be keen to take on Apple after the runaway success of its Surface Pro 3, while other chatter suggests Microsoft will price Surface Pro 4 lower than the current variants.

Other speculation on the web seems to suggest that the screen will be the product's USP. A high resolution screen of 2160x1440 is being talked about as a show stealer from the current crop of tablets available.
