Rapper Bobby Shmurda has posted his $2 million bail after sitting in jail for six weeks. He was held at the Manhattan Detention Complex and could be released this week.

According to the New York Times, the bail was arranged by bail bondsman, Ira Judelson, who has worked with high profile names, such as rappers Ja Rule and DMX before. The city has up to 72 hours to review the bail package.

"At the end of the day, I'm their bank. I'm the one who is going to be putting up the money to secure their appearance in court," Judelson told Bossip  "Bobby is relying on me to put up the $2 million to get him out the door, get him back to his family and get his music career back on track."

"If the city is playing fair, there will be no need for a hearing," Kenneth Montgomery, Shmurda's lawyer, said. Montgomery confirmed that a bail was posted.

The report added that the Brooklyn rapper's label, Epic Records, was not involved with the posting of his bail.

Shmurda, born Ackquille Pollard, and 14 others were arrested on Dec. 17. They were accused of belonging to an East Flatbush gang known as GS9. Shmurda was charged with conspiracy to commit murder in the second degree and gun possession. The others were charged with numerous counts, which included murder, attempted murder, and drug dealing. Shmurda pled not guilty.

"There is no question that Ackquille Pollard is the driving force behind the GS9 gang and the organizing figure within this conspiracy," Nigel Farina, a prosecutor, at his initial arraignment, had said.

Shmurda, 20, was arraigned again in the State Supreme Court in Manhattan on Thursday. His total number of counts increased from 69 to 101.

His next scheduled appointment is on April 22.
