Super Bowl Halftime Show Recap: Social Medial Loves Katy Perry’s Dancing Sharks
The halftime show for Super Bowl XLIX was what many expected: a lot of pop music, jaw-dropping props and cameos from huge names in the industry.
Although Katy Perry's performance was spectacular, social media has fallen in love with "left shark." During Perry's "Teenage Girls" routine, left shark appeared to have forgotten his dance moves as he attempts to follow right shark, whose choreography is on point.
Regardless of the mishap, Perry delivered on her promise, singing six of her hit songs. Perry started of strong, entering the stage riding a huge robotic-style lion while belting out "Roar." She quickly transitioned to her 2014 hit, "Dark Horse," followed by a rendition of one of her earliest hits, "I Kissed a Girl," which she performed with rock-star Lenny Kravitz.
Perry then made her first wardrobe change to perform "Teenage Dream" and "California Gurls." Perry surprised the audience when she brought out rapper Missy Elliot as her second musical guest. Together, the duo performed some throwbacks. Some of Missy Elliot's greatest hits were "Work it," "Get Ur Freak On" and "Lose Control." She is also known for her creativity in her music videos, particularly in "The Rain" where she wears a trash bag jumpsuit.
Perry then ended the night with "Firework" as she soared through the stage, buckled under stars and real fireworks. Although her performance has gotten mixed reviews, it was a night that Perry will certainly remember forever. The singer revealed via Instagram a new tattoo that reads "XLIX." The caption says, ""I thought it would be appropriate to draw blood tonight ... XLIX."
