Cleveland Cavaliers Trade Rumors: Plan to Add more Support for Irving, James
The Cleveland Cavaliers have finally found their rhythm.
The red-hot team currently has an eight-game winning streak. Point guard Kyrie Irving finished Wednesday night's game against the Portland Trailblazers with 55 points as LeBron James was sidelined due to a wrist injury.
In order to keep their record above .500, the team could trade for certain key players. According to ESPN.com's Brian Windhorst, the Cavaliers are focused on adding offense, particularly a player that can backup Irving.
With the trade deadline approaching, the Cavaliers must make a move soon. Some of the names that have circulated the rumor mill include Heat's Norris Cole, Lakers' Jeremy Lin, Knicks' Jose Calderon, Hornets' Lance Stephenson, Suns' Tyler Ennis and 76ers' Michael Carter-Williams.
Out of this group of guards, Cole seems like the best bet for the Cavaliers since Cole and LeBron played together in Miami. However, Cole is rumored to be headed for the Detroit Pistons, who just lost Brandon Jennings to a season-ending injury.
Stephenson, Calderon and Carter-Williams will most likely cost too much for the Cavaliers to acquire. With Kobe Bryant's injury, the Lakers might have to rely more on Lin and would not be inclined to trade him at the moment, which leaves the Cavaliers with one option.
Of course, the Cavaliers could let February 19 roll around and make no changes at all considering the fact that the team, with recently-acquired players, J.R. Smith, Timofey Mozgov and Iman Shumpert, has started to dominate.
