New England Patriots Tom Brady Won’t Let a Cold Stop Him on Sunday
Despite sniffling during the press conference, Tom Brady has settled fans' fears by stating that he is more than ready to take on the Seattle Seahawks for this Sunday's Super Bowl XLIX.
The New England Patriots' quarterback told the media on Thursday that he is feeling "pretty good" and expects a full recovery from his cold before the game.
"I've had it for four to five days, my kids got sick and my wife's pretty sick right now," Brady told the media. "I brought it, unfortunately, to Phoenix, but I'll be fine. I'll be good."
The veteran added, "I've been through it [the cold] plenty of times. But I'm glad it happened early in the week and I feel a lot better. I ran around a little bit yesterday. I expect to be 100 percent by Sunday."
During the first team practice, Brady looked strong as he took all of the snaps. Brady also stated that he has not skipped any part of his pre-game preparations and is focused on the upcoming game.
"It's about having a good plan, and you're always confident going into the game. But you have to go out and execute it well. There won't be anything easy about it," Brady said. "There are only 65-70 plays left in the season, so every play you call is paramount. We have to be dialed in and make sure every play we call can lead to success."
Brady's Super Bowl numbers are impressive. He is 3-2 and has completed 127 of 197 passes for 1,277 yards with nine touchdowns and two interceptions. His quarterback rating is at 93.8 percent and he has never had a rating lower than 86.2 percent in any of the five starts. Brady's last win was in 2004 when he defeated the Philadelphia Eagles. His two losses are to the New York Giants.
He will be up against Russell Wilson and the Seahawks, who won last year. Despite a dominating 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos, Wilson completed 18 of 25 passes for 206 yards with two touchdowns. He rushed for 26 yards.
Super Bowl XLIX will air Feb. 1 at 6:30 p.m. on NBC.
