KFC Double Down Dog Introduced In The Philippines
KFC Double Down Dog's entry in the Philippine market met a lot of excitement as Filipinos queued in participating KFC outlets to try this new version of the Double Down burger first introduced in the US. On January 26-27, the new product was launched among selected outlets in the Luzon area with only 50 samples in each participating outlet, the Daily Mail reports.
Aimed at giving a new twist to the traditional hotdog in a bun, the KFC Double Down Dog consists of a sausage inside a fried chicken breast fillet that substitutes the bun. It comes along with cheese, honey mustard and relish dressing.
A KFC poster found in RocketNews contains a list of participating outlets that sell the Double Down Dog including the KFC Venetian Mall (Taguig), KFC UST (Manila), KFC Katipunan (Quezon City), KFC Rob Pioneer (Mandaluyong), KFC La Salle (Manila), KFC Market Market (Taguig), KFC SM Mall of Asia (Pasay), KFC Megamall (Mandaluyong), KFC SM Fairview (Quezon City), KFC Tycoon (Pasig City) and KFC Fort Triangle (Taguig).
In its two-day launch, KFC officially released a statement saying that their new Double Down clicked in the Filipino market mainly saying that 'outrageously meaty KFC Double Down Dog have been sold out in all participating stores'.
Further, KFC announced that meat-lovers are surely going to love the product as it is the 'meatiest original recipe chicken fillet with a tender juicy chick'n cheese hot dog topped with honey mustard and relish dressing'.
Meanwhile, netizens are quick to comment and write reviews about the product.
"It's very disappointing that there's no more truth in advertising. Look at this double down dog that I got. NOT WORTH IT," one customer said.
Meanwhile, some are said to be satisfied. One Tweet from the KFC Twitter page was cited in KelownaNow saying "It was love at first bite!" Says Christian. 3 down, 47 left at the Fort Triangle Branch. #NewKFCDoubleDown."
Model and food blogger Chrissy Teigen also participated in the discussion saying, "Why is everyone so appalled by the KFC double down dog? You'd eat the same two things in a day anyhow. It's actually a time-saver." Her post was cited in a report from CTV News.
