All-Star Weekend: Curry and Thompson will Face Off in Three-Point Contest
Golden State Warriors' "Splash brothers," Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson will compete against each other for one day during the NBA All-Star Weekend.
According to league sources cited by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, Curry and Thompson will participate in the NBA's three-point shooting contest in New York City next month.
Other player names that have been leaked include Kyle Korver, Wesley Matthews and J.J. Redick. Korver of the Atlanta Hawks is currently leading the league in three-point accuracy, shooting 53 percent. Portland Trailblazers' Matthews has the most threes so far with 138. Curry and Thompson are the leading scorers out of this group, averaging 22.8 points per game.
A total of six players are scheduled to partake in the contest. None of these names have been confirmed.
In 2014, San Antonio's Marco Belinelli came out on top for the west with 19 points, beating out Damien Lillard of the Trailblazers by one point. Curry and Kevin Love, who was with the Minnesota Timberwolves, also competed but fell short with 16 apiece.
In the east bracket, Washington's Bradley Beal won with 21 points, beating out Brooklyn Nets' Joe Johnson, Orlando Magic's Arron Afflalo and Cleveland Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving. Belinelli and Beal then scored 19 points in the final round. During the tiebreaker, Belinelli outscored Beal 24 to 18.
The three-point contest will take place over the All-Star Weekend on Feb. 14 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. The All-Star Game will take place the following day at Madison Square Garden.
