NY Giants Odell Beckham Jr. says he played with Two Hamstring Tears
New York Giants rookie Odell Beckham Jr. continued to wow the crowd during Sunday night's Pro Bowl, making five catches for 86 yards for Michael Irvin's team that ended up beating Cris Carter's team by 32-28 at the University of Phoenix stadium.
The wide receiver generated a lot of buzz during his debut season despite suffering from injuries early on. According to the 22-year-old, he played with two hamstring tears in his right leg.
"They healed up enough to where I could play with them, but they were never truly good, and I'm still just working on them and trying to get ready," Beckham Jr. revealed to the New York Post. "I should be good by training camp. The plan is to play at full strength next season, and I definitely hope to do it. I'm just looking forward to getting healthy."
The hamstring injuries, which he sustained during the first day of training camp and right before the Giants' third preseason game against the Jets, had kept him out of the preseason as well as the first four games of the regular season.
In just 12 regular season games, Beckham Jr. made 91 catches for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns. His impressive year included four games with at least 10 catches, seven games with 100-plus yards and four games with multiple touchdowns.
The Professional Football Writers of America (PFWA) named Beckham Jr. the Offensive Rookie of the Year and the Rookie of the Year.
Beckham Jr. was the 12th overall pick out of LSU in the 2014 NFL draft.
