Katherine Heigl drops Lawsuit against Duane Read
Actress Katherine Heigl has dropped the lawsuit she filed against New York based Pharmacy chain, Duane Reade.
In the lawsuit, Heigl had accused Duane Reade of posting a photo of her leaving one of its stores in its Twitter and Facebook accounts.
The store had also put captions, which advertised the store, the complaint said, according to Reuters.
"Love a quick #Duane Reade run? Even @KatieHeigl can't resist shopping #NYC's favorite drugstore," the tweet said.
Heigl's lawyer confirmed on Wednesday that both the parties have come to an agreement regarding the lawsuit, which was filed in April at the Manhattan federal court.
The lawsuit had sought no less than $6 million under compensatory and punitive damages.
Heigl's lawyer Peter Haviland said in a statement that that the terms of the agreement are mutually beneficial.
In exchange for dropping the lawsuit, Duane Reade will make a contribution to the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation - which focuses on animal-welfare activities, reports Reuters.
Katherine Heigl and her mother set up the foundation in 2008 after her brother died in a car accident.
However, the lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice. This means that Heigl cannot sue Duane Reade again for the same issue, reports MSN.
Heigl is looking to make a comeback to TV in the new NCB series "State of Affairs". She plays the role of a CIA analyst who gives advice to the president of the United States.
In 2010, The American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals honored Heigl with the "Presidential Service Award" for her work and dedication to animal welfare.
