Twitter is officially launching "While you were away" feature, designed to recap tweets you may have missed while not using its app. The feature first announced in November last year has finally arrived for Twitter for iOS.

"A lot can happen while you're on the go. To fill in some of those gaps, we will surface a few of the best Tweets you probably wouldn't have seen otherwise, determined by engagement and other factors," Twitter wrote in a blog post announcing the feature.

By introducing the new feature, Twitter hopes to make users aware with world, irrespective of the time spent on the service.

Apparently, the feature will appear more frequently for users who use the app less often, hence helping them catch up in less time. More frequent users of the app will be less affected by the new feature.

"With a few improvements to the home timeline we think we can do a better job of delivering on that promise without compromising the real time nature of Twitter," Twitter added.

The "While you were away" feature will also arrive on Twitter's Android app and twitter.com.
