Believe It. MySpace Still Has 50 Million Monthly Users
No, really, 50 million people still visit MySpace each month. MySpace users generated more than 300 million video views in November, making it stand at the 16th place in comScore's Video Metrix ranking.
MySpace - site that put the very concept of social networking on the map - is alive and well. It is doing fairly well especially among young users .
Reportedly, the site has managed to attract a vibrant audience of 17 to 25-year-olds. MySpace also features original content and ads from brands like Jeep, WSJ reported.
MySpace reached 50.6 million unique users in the US in November, which is an increase of 575 percent compared to the same month in 2013.
Besides a young following, MySpace also sees lots of return visitors from MySpace's mid-2000s heyday-particularly on Thursdays. That's because many people have old digital photos stored on the site, which they may want to retrieve for "Throwback Thursday" -a popular social media ritual in which people post retro photos on social media, WSJ noted.
According to a MySpace official, the site still has access to more than 1 billion registered users globally and 465 million users in U.S.
MySpace was sold to News Corp nearly a decade ago for $580 million, which was later sold to the Internet ad company Specific Media for $35 million.
