Transgender Parents Will Someday Tell Sons Why Dad Is Mom And Mom Is Dad
Bianca and Nick Bowser have two sons---Kai, 3 years, and Pax, 17 months, in Louisville, Kentucky. They also have a secret that recently got revealed---they are transgenders.
"We fit ... the basic definition of what a transgender person is," Nick Bowser told ABC News.
"But we are man and woman," Bianca added. "That is the difference, so our children do not see us as transgender people," Nick Bowser, 27, said. "We are mommy and daddy."
Earlier, Bianca was a boy called Jason, while Nick was a girl called Nicole. They work in Louisville, at the nightclub "Play," with Nick being the manager and Bianca a performer.
The parents have decided to tell their children of the parental confusion "when the time is right", they added, according to mirror.com.
"When those questions start coming we will answer in a way that they will understand. A very simple definition with simple words and as they get older it will progress from there," said Nick.
Bianca explains that when she was five, she would climb into her mother's closet after she left for work. Bianca would put on her heels, confessing that she always felt "more liberated" during those times.
Nick, on the other hand, wanted to be a boy. "I looked at boys. I saw, you know, boys with their shirts off, and I was like, 'That's what I want to look like.'"
Both felt victimized by their bodies as well as their friends when they became teenagers. Though they were told that they were gay, they realized that something was still wrong.
"It wasn't until I got a little bit older that [I realized] I wasn't a lesbian, and not all lesbians think how I think," Nick Bowser said. "Basically, my brain is telling me I want to be a man." Bianca Bowser on the other hand said that when she was 20, she decided that she wanted to be a transgender. She began to live as a woman, apply makeup and wear women's clothes.
However, though both were living out their double lives, with hormones and thought of undergoing surgeries, they did not think that they would find a life partner. "I had planned on the gender reassignment surgery, and I was starting to save up my money for it," Bianca Bowser said. "I had already made my plans, went through all my final therapy sessions, and then I met Nick."
They met and fell in love at a local bar, and Nick Bowser confessed that he fell in love with Bianca Bowser. Hence, they went on a date and in 2010, they married in Georgia.
There was no change in the sex organs, so after marriage they could have children. They wondered how they could do it, and finally decided to get children in a natural manner. Nick Bowser conceived and delivered both sons through Caesarean section.
Bianca agreed that it had been more difficult for Nick, than for her. Nick agreed, as for almost 20 months he had to carry and deliver the babies, but it was "probably the darkest time in my entire life". He said that his brain was "telling me that I was one person". He said that his body looked different as it was going through a "daily struggle between mind and body". He said that he did not want to go out of the house.
It is going to be tougher in times to come, they agree, especially as their children would undergo confusion about their parents. They are prepared to face their questions and explain things to them gradually.
