Google Pixel 2 Is On The Way, But It’ll Be Costly

In a recent interview, Rick Osterloh, the hardware chief of Google, has confirmed that the firm is working on a possible successor for Google Pixel. But, the new device which is currently called as Google Pixel 2 won't be cheap. However, no further details including any specification, features or expected release date has been communicated.

It was in 2016, the mobile phone brand from the search giant Google Pixel and Pixel XL was introduced by ditching its Nexus series of phones. The phone was a great sensation, and it is selling in huge numbers even until now. It is considered as a reply to the iPhone series and expected to take a large number of Apple customers to take its side. The phone has also gotten rave reviews for its performance, style, an excellent camera, and other features. It also provided a unique Android experience which many wanted. While the Pixel phone was designed at 5-inches, Pixel XL was big with 5.5-inches.

"People can expect a successor this year, though you won't get a date from me now," Osterloh said in an interview recently. This means that the new phone would be introduced in 2017 and can mostly be expected in October or November. Last year, Google introduced Pixel and Pixel XL in October, and a similar release date can be expected this year as well. Though there was a budget version of the phone that has been rumored, there is no confirmation available on that.

After the successful entry of Pixel phones, there were rumors that Google would continue the phone series as a rival to Apple and other smartphone makers. With the latest revelation, it can be confirmed that Google is planning to continue the phone series for the time being. A phone or two from the search giant every year can be expected hereafter. There were also reports that the Google was desperate to bring its own hardware to the market considering the premium smartphone industry prospects.
