Sara Bareilles will star in a Broadway musical titled "Waitress." She also is the one who has written the score for the stage play.

According to a report, Bareilles is a singer-songwriter who has written the lyrics and songs for the Broadway musical "Waitress." Bareilles is set to take in the place of the star, Jessie Mueller for a limited slot on March 31.

Bareilles will play the role of Jenna for 10 weeks in "Waitress." The main character is a waitress who is trying to get out of an abusive relationship. Mueller who is the original main cast of the play will have her final performance on March 26.

"Waitress" is based on an indie film by Adrienne Shelley in 2007. The production of the play already made big in the 2015-16 season and the addition of Bareilles may boost the musical even more. Bareilles already released an album of her own rendition of the songs from the Broadway musical.

This is going to be the first time that Bareilles will star in a musical. She has been composing songs and she did it for the "Waitress." In fact she shared that the big decision that she is making from composer to actress is like a completion of her talents.

Bareilles is not new to stage performances. She had acting background during her adolescent time. She did "Charlotte's Web," "The Mystery of Edwin Drood," "Little shop of Horrors" and "Quilters" in her school in Northern California.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that "Waitress" is the first Broadway musical to have an all-female creative team. The musical is directed by Diane Paulus and has kicked off in March of last year. It also received four Tony nominations that included Bareilles' lyrics and songs for the play. "Waitress" also got a nomination at the Grammys for best musical theater album.
