Dad Sends 3-Year-Old Son to School With Lunchbox Filled With Drugs, Weapons
A father from Britain has been sentenced to four years in jail after he sent his son to daycare with a lunchbox filled with drugs and knives.
Lee Webb, 23, from Folkestone in Kent, had dropped off his three-year-old at Smarty Pants Nursery last March. Webb, who was reportedly in a hurry, gave his son a Tupperware filled with drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Once Webb realized the mistake he made, he went back to the daycare to ask for the lunchbox. By then, the center's teachers had already found mephedrone, cocaine, weighing scales, other drug-related items and two knives in the toddlers' lunchbox.
The staff refused to return the box and called the police. Webb had left the premises when the officers were called. The officers then showed up at Webb's home. According to IBTimes, Webb had scribbled a lawyer's number on his hand.
When the officers searched Webb's home, they found a stash of cocaine worth $1020.
On Jan. 6, Webb pleaded guilty on two counts of possession of controlled substances with the intent to supply.
Judge James O'Mahony said reported by the Metro, "You sent your three-year-old son to nursery with a rucksack containing a significant quantity of Class A and B drugs. In effect, you sent your son there with a drug dealer's kit. Your stupidity put children at risk and I consider the potential exposure to children of these drugs is so serious only an immediate custodial sentence can be justified."
Detective Constable Kay Brown added after the sentencing according to TIME, "Stupidity does not even come close to describing the actions of this man. The consequences of his irresponsible, not to mention illegal actions, could have been severe. As a father his role is to protect and nurture, however he put his own child at serious risk of harm."
