The latest episode of "Jane the Virgin" had a shocking twist. Michael (Brett Dier) dies in the episode and leaves Jane (Gina Rodriguez) devastated.
According to a report, Michael dies right after taking the LSAT. The cause of his death had been from an aortic dissection of his gunshot wound. It can be recalled that Michael was shot in the finale episode of "Jane the Virgin" Season 2.
When the third season of "Jane the Virgin" premiered, Michael had been recovering from his wound and they have shared a happy life as newlyweds. However, the happiness for the couple ended when Michael took his last breath and eventually died.
Showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman shares that Michael's character may have died earlier in the series. However, she had to keep the character longer because of the chemistry of the characters Jane and Michael. She adds that she had been happy with Jane having her firsts with Michael in "Jane the Virgin."
The latest episode had been the right time that Michael has to die in the series. Urman shares that it has been sad writing about the scene because the character has been loved in the story. Urman also points out that even if the death of Michael may disappoint fans, "Jane the Virgin" is a telenovela and there are things that can happen in such.
Meanwhile, Gina Rodriguez shares a video from Brett that has been shot by the latter the day before the death scene is shot. Rodriguez posted that Michael's character will be missed as they move on with "Jane the Virgin."
Killing Michael in the latest episode of "Jane the Virgin" has always been part of the story from the start. It has just been a matter of when he will be out from the story. Urman has stated that Dier knew from the start that his character is going to die in the series.
The latest episode of "Jane the Virgin" may have devastated many but the story of Jane continues and the next episode hints of a three-year time jump after Michael died.
