Goodbye Dahlink! Zsa Zsa Gabor: Over 60 Feature Films and Television Movies and 9 Marriages, Dead At 99
Zsa Zsa Gabor died at the age of 99. She had a multitude of acting credits and 9 marriages to her name.
Born in Budapest in 1917, Gabor (originally Sari Gabor) and her two other sisters, Vilmos and Jolie, grew up in prosperity. They attended private schools and were given private acting, music, dancing, and fencing lessons.
Acting Career. The former 1936 Miss Hungary has been credited with over 60 feature films and television movies. Her best roles came early in her career for "Moulin Rouge" (1952) and "Lili" (1953).
During the 1950s until the 90s, Gabor continued to appear in plenty of television programs: game shows, talk shows, comedy specials, episodic dramas, and even westerns.
She even played the gold-digging Minerva in the 1960s "Batman" TV series. "A real wicked woman," she described the character in her signature thick Hungarian accent.
Socialite Status. While the late Gabor had dozens of acting credits, her all-time greatest role was playing herself. She is well known for calling everyone "darling" (which she distinctly pronounced "dah-link" due to her thick Hungarian accent), her extravagant lifestyle filled with fur coats and fancy jewelry, and her long list of ex-husbands.
Using her celebrity status and with the help of ghost writers and collaborators, Gabor was able to publish four books: "Zsa Zsa Gabor: My Story" (1960), "Zsa Zsa's Complete Guide to Men" (1969), "How to Catch a Man, How to Keep a Man, How to Get Rid of a Man" (1970) and "One Lifetime Is Not Enough" (1991). In addition, she also operated a cosmetics company.
Marriages. Zsa Zsa was famous for her nine marriages. She famously is quoted for saying: "I am a marvelous housekeeper. Every time I leave a man, I keep his house." She also said: "A girl must marry for love, and keep on marrying until she finds it."
Her many husbands consist of Burhan Asaf Belge, Conrad Hilton Sr., George Sanders, Herbert Hutner, Joshua Cosden, Jack Ryan, Michael O'Hara, Felipe de Alba, and Frederic Prinz von Anhalt. She had one daughter, Francesa, whom she had with husband Conrad Hilton Sr.
