A startup called Lumoid lets you try five wearables for a week for $20, so that you can "try before you buy." The new service will ship to you the chosen gadgets for a week trial.

Devices from Lumoid include: Jawbone UP24, Garmin Vivosmart, Fitbit One, Fitbit Flex, Fitbit Charge, and Misfit Shine. The service also includes traditional smartwatches like Pebble and other health monitoring devices such as Fitbit Aria Smart Scale and Withings wireless blood pressure monitor.

Lumoid is a Y Combinator-backed startup that started by hooking up travelers and photo-enthusiasts with new camera gear. The services have now been expanded to wearables and drones.

Lumoid currently offers camera kits, bodies, lenses and accessories. High-end gadgets like Google Glass and drones can also be rented from the startup. Parrot AR 2.0 Elite Edition can be tried out for $20 per day while the DJI Phantom 2 Drone with GoPro Hero 4 can be tried for $45 per day.

"The Lumoid Wearables Box [is] a home try-on experience for fitness enthusiasts, athletes and everyone in between," Lumoid said.

Try before buy is not being offered for the first time. Google Glass and Moto X were also offered as try-before-you-buy.
