The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) Sunday killed two top officials of the Hamas leadership, saying one of the targeted leaders was responsible for "terror fund transactions".

Mohammed al-Ghoul, who was in charge of transferring funds to the terrorist organization, and one "Justice Minister" in the Hamas government was declared dead by Palestinian doctors, Israel National News reports.

Post the attack IDF tweeted: "Earlier today, we targeted Mohamed Al-Oul, the terrorist responsible for Hamas' financial transactions."

Ghoul's car was hit by an airstrike and in pictures of the Hamas leader's ruined car in Arab reports, his body can clearly be seen.

Witnesses said that U.S. dollars were found in his car, Voice of America reports.

"Ghoul was an important Hamas actor who dealt with transferring funds to build terror infrastructure in Gaza, such as tunnels, and was a key target," said Israeli army spokesman Major Arye Shalicar.

Ghoul was among the 12 Palestinians, who were killed in the 27 strikes launched by Israel Sunday.

On the other hand, the IDF claims that the Hamas fired four rockets at Ashkelon Sunday. And, it added that in the last 24 hours, "135 rockets were fired at Israel" from Gaza.

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked Palestinians in Gaza Sunday to leave any location which was used being used by the "terrorists" for carrying out their operations. He said that such sites were their legitimate targets.

Netanyahu is firm on continuing strikes on the Gaza strip to attack the Hamas and other "terrorist groups" until Israel achieves the goal of putting an end to the Palestinian rocket attacks and restoring peace in the region.
