‘Shameless’ Season 7 Finale Recap & Spoilers: Season 8 Renewal Announced! What To Expect In S8
"Shameless" wrapped its seventh season over the weekend. Episode 12 focused primarily on how the Gallaghers mourned the death of Monica (Chloe Webb).
Fiona (Emmy Rossum) has no love lost for her mother, according to TVLine. In the Season 7 finale of "Shameless," Fiona aired out her anger over her dead parent by getting her the cheapest burial option and punching her lifeless body as it lies in the coffin.
Fiona lashed out at Frank (William H. Macy) about Monica being an absentee parent. She pointed out that after Monica left their home, she became the one tending to her brothers and sister. Fiona then declared that she's glad that Monica's dead.
Frank doesn't exactly share Fiona's feelings. In the moving eulogy, Frank said that the Gallagher siblings' faces all remind him of Monica. For Frank, all of his children inherited their mother's strength and bravery and regardless whether they hate her or not, Monica is in them and "that's a good thing."
This made Fiona realize that her father truly loved her mother. She then joins the others in a post-funeral dance party, which was followed by a touching montage of the Gallagher family living their lives after Monica's death.
The montage in the "Shameless" Season 7 finale showed Fiona becoming the owner of an apartment building; Lip (Jeremy Allen White) heading to a meeting; Debbie (Emma Kenney) in her welding classes; Ian (Cameron Monaghan) returning to his job; and Frank looking pleased over Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) spray-painting Monica's name on a building. This all appears to be a series finale for "Shameless" but that's definitely not the case.
In a tweet posted on Dec. 15, Rossum seemed to have confirmed a Season 8 renewal for "Shameless." Check it out below.
Playing Fiona Gallagher has been one of the great privileges of my life. I'm so happy to continue w my SHAMELESS family!Back to work in May!

The actress recently sought -- and got -- equal pay for her work in the Showtime series. Rossum asked for a bigger salary than Macy's to compensate for the lesser pay she received in earlier "Shameless" seasons, Variety reported.
"Shameless" Season 8 is expected to address the bags of meth worth $10,000 each that Monica left for her children. Fiona is the only one who refused the money but the others didn't.
Lip realizing his deeper feelings for Sierra (Ruby Modine) was also teased in the "Shameless" Season 7 finale, while a changed and disciplined Carl comes back from military school. Ian and Trevor's (Elliott Fletcher) relationship, meanwhile, gets jeopardized after Ian confessed that he hooked up with Mickey (Noel Roeim Fisher). However, Trevor attended Monica's funeral, so reconciliation is still possible between the couple.
