Samsung Launches Galaxy A7, A 5.5-inch Smartphone That is Thinner Than iPhone
Samsung has launched the long-rumored Galaxy A7, a smartphone that is thinner(6.3mm) than Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The price of the 5.5-inch smartphone is yet to be revealed.
The phone is being touted for its premium outer-shell that is of metal instead the usual plastic that Samsung uses even for its flagship phones. Samsung Galaxy A7 is not a flagship, but in terms of build quality it does look better than all the previous flagships Samsung ever had.
Galaxy A7 is powered by a mid-level Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The memory can also be expanded with a microSD card.
In terms of screen resolution, the phone has 720p rather than 1080p, further hinting that the price would fall under mid-range.
Galaxy A7 has been equipped with a 2,600mAh battery. Samsung plans to introduce two versions of the phone - an LTE model and another with dual-SIM support.
Four color options are: Bronze gold, Frosted white, Charcoal black and Blossom pink.
The phone boasts 13 MP primary camera along with 5MP secondary.
Samsung has promised to launch the phone at a "competitive price point." It lost the market share globally in the third quarter of 2014, from 32 percent in to 24. The launch date is also unknown as of now.
